Oycas is a social-networking site for students in University and College. Peerglobe Technology started the oycas project in September 2006 as they saw a need of both social and learning platform for post secondary students. Peerglobe predicted that the Web 2.0 interface and the Social Networking phenomena is not another dot-com boom in the way that it is a trend and hype of a new technology. But it is the natural way for people to interact online.
This predication led to the conclusion that an online network can be social as well as serve a specific purpose of a group of people who have something in common. An online web application with a social networking face.
Having that in mind, Peerglobe developed oycas by fusing together complex and boring online learning environments like Webct with fun and social online networks like Facebook. Hence an online learning environment for students that has an interaction level of a social networking site.
