Content Management Systems or CMS are web-based applications used to create, publish and manage dynamic web sites using an easy to use graphical web-based interface. Previously companies had to hire web design companies to create and maintain the contents of the company's websites by hard coding the contents in the web pages. However, now companies can have dynamic web presence by using a CMS that allows them to easily publish, manage and update their contents themselves. CMS is like an online desktop whose features and functionalities can be extended by installing additional plug-ins. With advances on mobile technologies, a lot of businesses now rely on mobile platforms to serve their clients' needs. With faster data transfer rate and faster internet access now there is room for more interactive and social-friendly applications. SMS Integration with Web Technologies
Integrating text messaging service (SMS) with the existing web infrastructure facilitates a simple and effective way of communication between businesses and their clients. Using the two-way text messaging service - Businesses can deliver content, notifications and reminders to their clients' mobile handsets by sending text messages through their website, or
- Clients can request information by sending text messages to a web service and receive information instantly.
This is a low-cost and efficient solution because
- The cost of sending and receiving text messages is very low, and
- Virtually all mobile devices are capable of sending and receiving text messages
The diagram below illustrates the interaction between web technologies and mobile phones through text messaging service.
