Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have an app idea, what do you need from me in order to get started on the app?

What we require is for you is to write in a paragraph about what problem you are trying to solve and how your app is going to do that. If you have rough sketches and diagrams, those will be great help as well.

What you don’t need is a 20 page powerpoint presentation or detailed spec of how the app has to operate or look like with a long list of features. If you are in this level, your idea is quite likely suffering from a scope creep and therefore the scope of your project needs to be optimized.

2. Do you offer free consultation ?

Yes! We offer one hour free consulting per project during which we can go through your project requirements, define a scope, and email you a time and cost estimate usually within 3-5 business days after that. If your project required more than one hour of our time, consulting fees will apply.

3. Would you sign a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) ?

We generally do not, especially if your intention is trying to protect your idea.

We get many ideas pitched to us every day and every week. If we wanted to sign an NDA for each and every one of them, they would’ve added up to several hundreds of them per year and become a serious potential for legal liability.

We strongly believe that an idea is not worth much until it is executed properly. Prospective clients who come across too protective of their idea, have a much lower chance of their project being considered by our team.

Having said that, our business contract already includes a confidentiality clause as a formal promise from us not to share your project’s details with any third parties.

In rare cases we are required to obtain a copy of source code or have access to a database on your server before we are able to provide you a time and cost estimate. This is perhaps the only case scenario that we agree to sign a mutual NDA as a promise that your business information is safe with us.

4. Would you sign a noncompete agreement ?

We do not. We are a software development company and we may develop similar projects for different clients who wish to hire us for our services.

5. Will you help me Trademark the name of the app or patent it ?

We do not provide legal services. You need to talk to an intellectual property lawyer for that.

6. I have an app developed by an offshore software company. Will I be able to hire your team to audit the code or improve it ?

We’re afraid no! We really think you better continue working with the same offshore company; after all that is the choice that you have made.

7. We are a marketing/design/social-media/ad-agency and our client wants a mobile app developed. Will you accept our project ?

We do not accept projects outsourced to us. It is absolutely essential that we work directly with our clients through all the software development iterations and future software updates that we will be providing.

Having a middleman or middle company will dramatically reduce the quality of communication and leads to very poor end results. Overall a terrible experience for your client as well.

So we recommend you to have your client to directly contact us for their inquiry. In the meantime we are more than happy to collaborate and work alongside with you with your client where we offer our software development and consulting services and you continue to provide your marketing services.

8. We need an app developed for us and looking to pick a company. Would you participate in our bidding process if we sent you a request for proposal (RFP) ?

We do not reply to RFPs or participate in any bids and instead would rather focus on the clients who are waiting to be helped. If you need help with your project, please send an inquiry to make an appointment and we will be happy to help you out.

9. Is it possible if my marketing/design/social-media/ad-agency to manage this app development project ?

No!

10. I have visual design resources (a friend or my designer) to do the design aspects of the app. Is that going to help reducing the overall cost of the project ?

Usually it will be a very small saving (within 5%). Design and branding often take up a very small portion of a software development project and that is especially the case for the projects that are launched for the first time and start with minimal branding, look and feel.

11. Who owns the code in the end ?

The code that we develop for you is your copyright and we do not hold any of the developed code and material during your project as proprietary. We do use software and framework libraries that are already protected by open source licenses such as GPL or MIT and therefore cannot be owned by you while you have the freedom to use, read, modify and redistribute them.

12. I don't have enough funds, will you partner with me?

We do not partner with our clients. We are already involved with business ventures of our own and world liberation plans that are keeping us engaged.
